What an affiliate link is
When a page recommends a product, the link to buy it may carry a tag identifying this site. If you buy after clicking it, the retailer pays us a small percentage. You pay the normal price — the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.
Where they appear
Only on pages that discuss specific products. Routine and technique articles don't carry affiliate links at all. Every page that does carries a visible notice at the top, before the first link, and each link itself is marked#ad.

What commission does not buy
No brand pays for placement, a positive verdict, or removal of criticism. Where a product is overpriced, underwhelming or unnecessary for most people, we say so — including when we'd earn more by staying quiet. Commission rates differ between products, and we don't rank by what pays best.

Disclosure of paid links is required by the US Federal Trade Commission and by consumer protection rules across the EU and UK. We'd tell you anyway: a recommendation you can't verify the motive behind isn't worth much.
